ORE Part 1 exam dates for 2026 and 2027

The next ORE Part 1 sittings are 14 to 15 October 2026 (fully booked), 2 to 3 February 2027 and 6 to 7 April 2027. Each sitting opens for booking eight weeks ahead, and the table shows which opening dates the GDC has confirmed and which are projected from that rule.

How booking works

The GDC opens every ORE sitting for booking eight weeks in advance. It emails candidates before each window opens and posts the date on its booking-dates page, which is where to confirm a window before relying on any other date, including the projections above.

The GDC reports that all places have been taken within 30 minutes of a booking window opening, and warns that a place may be hard to get for the next 12 months or more. Each Part 1 sitting has 600 places.

The GDC describes how its current booking system behaves:

  • A sitting shows as unavailable for eight hours before its window opens.
  • You can be logged in on only one device, and you are logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
  • Payment is taken when you book and must be made within one hour.

Candidates approaching the five-year limit (Part 2 must be passed within five years of a first Part 1 attempt), and candidates with refugee status for up to two attempts at each part, are given priority for booking. The GDC says a new booking portal should be in place for exams scheduled in 2027, so these steps may change for the February and April 2027 sittings.

How the dates above are worked out

Sitting dates are the GDC's, and so is the status of each sitting. The August 2026 window opened on Tuesday 30 June 2026, eight weeks before the sitting. The GDC has not yet published the windows for 2027, so the planner projects them from the eight-week rule and labels them as projections until the GDC confirms a date and time.

No results date is published in advance. The GDC says results are sent by email within 30 working days of the exam; the provider's results policy says within 30 days of the exam completion date, which can be sooner. The planner shows the later of the two, counted from the second day of the sitting, and the topic feedback, a percentage for each paper and each blueprint topic, about 21 working days after that.

Before a booking window

Applying to sit the ORE takes about 60 working days to process and needs evidence of at least 1,600 clinical hours and a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability, so a first-time applicant should allow for that before the window they are aiming for. In the weeks before a sitting, the practice questions and the mini-mock show the format and the pace.

The published sittings still to come are 14 to 15 October 2026 (fully booked), 2 to 3 February 2027 and 6 to 7 April 2027. The first you can still book is February 2027. Each sitting has 600 places, and Paper A and Paper B are taken on consecutive days.
